B5 - Pantothenic Acid

Vitamin B5, Pantothenic acid, is water-soluble essential micronutrient.

All animals require B5 for fatty acid metabolism and to metabolize macronutrients.

Human B5 deficiency is very rare. Adult men and women (14+ years) daily adequate amount is 5 mg.

Small quantities of B5 are found in nearly every food. More of B5 can be found in tomatoes, avocado, sunflower seeds, potatoes, oats, and mushrooms.

Bacteria synthesize pantothenic acid from the amino acids aspartate and a precursor to the amino acid valine.
